The People

Revenue flows back to White Earth — scholarships, elder services, language preservation, housing. Cannabis as economic sovereignty.

Sovereignty

Not a private equity group. A tribal community.

Waabigwan Mashkiki is owned and operated by the White Earth Nation — a sovereign Anishinaabe nation in northwestern Minnesota. Every dollar from every sale returns to our community.

We grow on White Earth Reservation. We process on White Earth Reservation. We dispense across Minnesota under a tribal-state compact that recognizes our right to economic sovereignty.

Revenue funds scholarships, elder services, language preservation, housing, and infrastructure for our people. This is the difference.

What customers tell us.

Reflections illustrative of common feedback themes. Real verified reviews live on our Google Business profiles and Dutchie store pages.

The flower quality is what brings me back. Staff explained what each strain felt like instead of just pushing the highest THC%.
M.K.
Moorhead
Knowledgeable staff. Beautiful store. They explain the products and share the sovereignty story without making it feel like a lecture. Felt at home.
Sarah R.
Saint Cloud
Drove an hour to Mahnomen for the flagship store. Worth the trip. Will absolutely visit Chanhassen once it opens.
James T.
Twin Cities
Souree gummies are dosed honestly — 5mg is 5mg. Real fruit flavor, not synthetic. Pre-rolls have been consistent across multiple visits.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Sourced from real questions our staff hears every day. If yours isn't here, call any store or visit Education.

01

Where is the nearest cannabis dispensary to me in Minnesota?

Waabigwan Mashkiki operates four open Minnesota dispensaries: Mahnomen (flagship, on the White Earth Reservation), Moorhead (Fargo–Moorhead metro), Saint Cloud (central Minnesota), and East Grand Forks (Grand Forks border). Chanhassen (SW Twin Cities) opens soon. Find your closest location at /locations.
02

Who owns Waabigwan Mashkiki?

Waabigwan Mashkiki is owned and operated by the White Earth Nation — a sovereign Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) nation in northwestern Minnesota. It is not a private-equity group or out-of-state MSO. Every dollar of revenue returns to White Earth community programs.
03

What does the name Waabigwan Mashkiki mean?

Waabigwan means “flower” in Anishinaabemowin (the Ojibwe language). Mashkiki means “medicine.” Together: Flower Medicine. The name names what we sell and honors the language of the people who grow it.
04

How do I order cannabis online from Waabigwan Mashkiki?

Pick your closest open dispensary — Mahnomen, Moorhead, Saint Cloud, or East Grand Forks — then visit /menu/{store-slug} to browse the live Dutchie menu. Place an online order for in-store pickup. ID required at pickup (21+).
05

What is the legal age to buy cannabis at Waabigwan Mashkiki?

21 years old. Minnesota’s adult-use cannabis law requires customers to be 21+. Valid government-issued photo ID is required at every visit — driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID. We do not sell cannabis to anyone under 21.
06

Does Waabigwan Mashkiki have a state license?

Waabigwan Mashkiki operates under a state-tribal compact between the White Earth Nation and the State of Minnesota. Tribal cannabis businesses are licensed by the Tribal Regulatory Agency (TRA), not by Minnesota’s Office of Cannabis Management — the legally appropriate framework for sovereign tribal commerce.
07

Was Waabigwan Mashkiki Minnesota’s first recreational dispensary?

Yes. Waabigwan Mashkiki Mahnomen opened on August 1, 2023 — the first legal recreational cannabis dispensary in Minnesota and the first off-reservation tribal cannabis store in the state.
08

What kinds of cannabis products are available at Waabigwan Mashkiki?

Flower, pre-rolls, vaporizers, edibles (gummies), accessories, and apparel. Five house brands: Waabigwan Mashkiki (flagship indoor flower), Native Cuts (rare pheno-hunted strains), Minobii (terpene-rich daytime social), Souree (real-fruit gummies), and Zips (bulk value).
09

How much cannabis can I buy at one visit?

Minnesota law limits adult-use purchases to 2 ounces of flower, 8 grams of concentrate, or 800 mg THC in edibles per day. Staff tracks your visit and will let you know if you’re approaching the daily limit.
10

What payment methods does Waabigwan Mashkiki accept?

Cash and debit card. Federal banking restrictions prevent credit-card networks from processing cannabis transactions, so credit cards are not accepted at any Minnesota dispensary. We have ATMs in every store.
11

Does Waabigwan Mashkiki offer delivery?

Currently in-store pickup only. Place an online order via Dutchie at /menu/{store-slug} and pick it up at your selected Waabigwan Mashkiki location. Delivery is not advertised on our site at this time.
12

Can I bring cannabis purchased at Waabigwan Mashkiki out of state?

No. Federal law prohibits interstate transport of cannabis. Cannabis purchased in Minnesota must be consumed in Minnesota. This includes carrying product across the Red River into North Dakota — do not do this.
13

Does Waabigwan Mashkiki have a loyalty program?

Yes — download the Waabigwan app on iOS or Android to earn $10 in credit at signup, accumulate points (1 point per $1 spent), get early access to new drops, and skip the line at pickup. See /loyalty-program.
14

Are Waabigwan Mashkiki products lab-tested?

Yes. Every batch is third-party lab tested for cannabinoid potency (THC, CBD, minor cannabinoids), terpene profile, microbial contamination, heavy metals, pesticide residues, and residual solvents. Results are documented under the Tribal Regulatory Agency seed-to-sale tracking (METRC).
15

Can I consume cannabis on dispensary property?

No. Minnesota law prohibits on-site consumption at cannabis dispensaries. Take your purchase home or to a private legal location to consume.
